Made in Norfolk walnut and oak, “C-two” is a modern Entry Way Hallway Table with three pull out lower boxes for gloves, scarves, hats and a top that becomes a shelf.

A floating set of dovetailed drawers with walnut sides, contrasting the flow of the oak fronts.

All details are in walnut, including the hand carved key bowl. All dovetails are hand-cut.

Her shoes are all over the place.
One glove here. The other one, she doesn’t know. And I didn’t ask.
Her scarves are hanging, but every time she wants one, she’ll fight her way through her coats.
If only I had…
And so we met.
Kutsu tawa was made to fit in the entrance porch, where space is limited and the door needs to be fully opened.
I was commissioned to make a footwear storage cabinet, with separate compartments for gloves (in pairs…), scarves and hats. All neatly kept away but easy to reach, ready to venture outside into the wild world.
Made in solid oak and English walnut details, including the handmade walnut handles.

Go on. Get warm. Go out.
P.S.
A few years later, I was commissioned another piece by the same client to follow the same idea as this shoe storage tower, but this time, I had to make a stool.

This Entry-way hall table was made from a locally felled Norfolk black ash tree.
The top has been planed entirely by hand as it is too wide to fit in my machinery and I wanted to keep it as a single piece.
The last time I worked so much with a hand-plane was just before the Industrial Revolution.
The drawer sides and back are made from Cedar of Lebanon, with its very distinctive scent as you open and close the drawer, dovetailed to the black ash drawer front.

Inspiration was taken once more from nature, from the ribbed effect of the ebbing tide on the two hand-sculptured “baskets”. These were made in cherry, showing a subtle contrast against the black ash.

Enough with leaving your scarves, hats and gloves anywhere. Sort it out.

There is a built-in English walnut key bowl for those pesky keys and a drawer for all those so-called important documents that we don’t need…

Leave all your stuff in the entry-way console table and relax.

You are home.

The Bitbot Beck desk: The top and sides are made from every bit of wood I find in the workshop, off-cuts and not so off-cuts, reclaimed and recycled.
I try to show as many contrasts as I can and always do my best to mix lovely hardwood grains with other softwoods and the most commonly used (hu)man-made materials, such as OSB, plywood and moisture proof MDF.
The rest of the desk is made in European oak and sapele, with hand-cut dovetail joints which make the contrasting drawer fronts.
Inside there is a sliding tray for a printer and a shelf.
The Bitbot series come in all shapes, sizes, species and prices, of course.
You will find teak, ash, oak, mahogany, sycamore, beech, pine, cedar, utile, sapele, cherry, maple, london plane, walnut and (hu)man-made boards. All of the components show their true hues and none are dyed.

Price for these dimensions:
Length 1.65m

Made in solid ash and solid sapele, this table has been an ongoing project for nearly 5 years, as I started it while in college in Bristol. The table itself was finished then, but the map of the world in marquetry was a much bigger task, and other oncoming projects made my geographic (un)holiday stay behind.

I chose these species because of their beautiful contrast and grain, creating a warm point of interest in the room. (Plus the inevitable urge for finding the countries that you can actually name). (Always far from the full list).

It has four spacious drawers with hand-cut dovetail joints showing a very sturdy construction and style, and the fronts follow the same round shape of the top.

The built-in handles are designed so that there is no contact with the knees or feet, allowing more space between the sofa and the table.
The legs are square at the base, but as they go up they change into a soft rounded shape that meets the rounded top.

The making of the map of the world was a very slow process where each of the pieces of the puzzle were cut by hand with a craft knife and then joined to their neighbour, sometimes as small as half a grain of rice. And then another. And after that I cut another. And one day I finished Africa.
But then came Europe.

Dimensions are: 86cm x 67cm x 44cm high.

The world is in your hands. And if it fits in your place, I will accept any size job.

The Zero Eight Too coffee table is made in European cherry with black American walnut details.
The top frame was cut from a single wide and thick European cherry board. This was a commission for Sue and John in Suffolk to fit in with, match and contrast the rest of their furniture and furnishings.

Going back a long time, this side table was made during my student years at City of Bristol College.

It is one of those pieces that I wasn’t supposed to sell, as I always (used to) take it to my shows as an example of what I do in terms of marquetry and parquetry. But I was really pushed by a posh lady and, well, money talks.

A solid ash side table with tapered legs and marquetry patterns made in walnut, mahogany, zebrano (zebra wood) and rosewood.

Uno is a coffee table made in lenga, patagonian timber quite similar to beech. It is inspired in the pyramids of Egypt (not that I have ever been there), but my clients (mum and dad) have, and I thought at the time it would be a good souvenir. Not long after, they started travelling a lot, so I decided to go for a pair of socks instead.
The top frame has walnut details and glass where you can see the tip of the pyramid just touching it.
The frame is supported by four rounded steel bars to the base.
Dimensions are: 100cm long x 86cm wide x 40cm high

Made in English oak and mahogany, this stool has slight but considerable variations from its original design by another cabinet maker. Very much oriental styled according to their traditional ways of construction in architecture and of course, furniture.

The client, a pianist by trade, came to me with the idea as she saw it in a magazine and wanted it for her home. The soft hollow shape on all borders make it very comfortable and it’s here where one of its main variations took place as it was re-designed.
This stool was made using only traditional hand tools.
Measurements are: 50cm high x 56cm long x 28cm wide.
