This coffee table is the original design of the Zero Eight table, with a glass top and fine hand-cut marquetry.
As usual, cherry giving very pleasant surprises with its grain, and so this table was a pleasure to work on.
The wood used for the top frame had a dead knot (rotten) which was cleaned out and filled with clear resin, giving a glass effect finish looking right inside the wood.
The veneers are walnut burr and maple and the frame is made in solid English cherry. It was a very old and forgotten bit of lumber that I got from college in my student years. Those were the days…

The veneers are scorched with very hot sand to give a 3-d illusion. View more pictures of how it was made here.
