Dear Diego

Presentation of Livery Company Prizes by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, President of the City & Guilds of London Institute, at Buckingham Palace – 2 May

My colleague Joanna Edoo spoke to you recently to let you know that you have won a prize from the Worshipful Company of Joiners & Ceilers. Congratulations! This is a prestigious award and you should be very proud. Each year a number of City of London Livery Companies award prizes to people who they feel have excelled in particular fields. City & Guilds was founded by the Livery Companies in 1878 and therefore maintains a close link with them. As many people have not come across the Livery Companies before, I have enclosed a print-out from Wikipedia which explains what they are, their roots and their function.

I would also like to take this opportunity to confirm the details for the presentation of your prize at this year’s Prince Philip Medal presentation ceremony at Buckingham Palace, on Thursday 2 May 2013. We will gather for a buffet lunch at City & Guilds’ headquarters before going to the Palace. The ceremony will take place where you, and the other prize winners will receive your awards from HRH The Princess Royal and a representative of the relevant Livery Company. After the awards ceremony, we will remain at the Palace for afternoon tea, hosted by The Princess Royal.
