A beautiful chessboard made with an intricate eye for detail. Each and every piece of the different veneers have been cut by hand with a scalpel, some of them scorched with very hot sand to give the shaded impression of a woven basket on the decorative side. Veneered with sycamore, walnut burr, imbuya, bird’s eye maple and lacewood.

Dimensions are: 36cm x 36cm x 2cm high.

I was awarded the City & Guilds Medal for Excellence for designing and making this piece in 2012.
